“ My husband and I were in l Kingston just for one night and had a very light dinner hours before and later really wanted a drink and a late night bite. We went to the Merchant Tap Room after having walked by a few times and saw it was a busy, popular place and they were open late. We ordered drinks and were planning on ordering food but the waitress told us they’d just shut the ovens down. After seeing our disappointment she came back out and told us they turned them back on for us. We were so thankful and the Nachos were the best. Every single chip was crispy and they were layered perfectly. Cailan saved the night! We were starving and by then every place would have been closed. She was cheerful and attentive as well as the bar manager who came out to check on us. I highly recommend this place. The food was fantastic and the service was above and beyond. ”

“ The 3* for the food is just because it's not my style of pizza. I don't prefer a crackery crust. The ingredients were good, the sauce was flavorful and the beer was great. Service was fantastic. Friendly, helpful with beer selection and very attentive without being too intrusive. The burger my friend got looked great, but if there's pizza on the menu I'm getting pizza. ”

“ We sat outside at the Merchant Tap House because we brought our Doberman dog. Dogs are welcome, the friendly server brought our dog a bowl of water and a menu for both us and the dog, see dog menu photo. We ordered spring rolls, corn ribs, and two cucumber salads. We also ordered a salmon and vegetable rice dish for our dog. We loved the food, and our dog loved her dish also. Food and service was great, we would definitely come back! ”

“ Love this local Kingston restaurant! I have been coming here for many years… Even used to do paint nights back in the day. This place is a must see located on beautiful Lake Ontario. The food is very reasonably priced with generous portions.I would like to make a special note of a lovely server that we often have there Brinley. Her smile lights up the room and she is just so friendly and wants you to have the best experience ever. Highly recommend you visit The Merchant in downtown Kingston. ”

“ I had the basic burger (only $10 with fries!!!) with a side of onion rings (extra $3 which means my meal was less than $20 with a tip!) and damn it was so good. Although the burger was quite dry, it had a seasoning on it which was so good. I asked about it and they don't season the burgers, they season the grill. The onion rings are the best I've had anywhere. ”

“ Great vibe, service, and food here. Our waiter (I think her name was Hannah??) was super nice and our food was amazing!! Only $10 for a classic burger and fries, and the lettuce wraps were also so good. Onion rings are always hit or miss at pubs but this place does them right!! ”

“ Went to the patio for lunch with my family. We had a variety of items- all were excellent. Our server Maizy was attentive and very pleasant. She was on top of refills, making sure we were enjoying the food and anything else we needed. We will be back - and maybe we’ll bring our dog to try out the doggy menu! ”

“ A MUST VISIT IN KINGSTON! The people were so nice, location is so cozy. The frosted cranberry is a god like drink. I got the whiskey cheeseburger with side of Caesar salad. Divine! the only thing that would make the burger better is some pickles. The Caesar salad made me question my entire salad hating life I could eat 15 pounds of the Caesar salad everyday. I am a changed man. ”
